Vine was introduced in the country by the Romans and developed a lot during the 12th century until the 17th century, thanks to monasteries' intense activity. Then, Noble families maintained this knowhow between the 18th and 19th centuries.


German’s best vinyards are located on the Northern part of the country. Because of the New World white wines’ emergence, Germany wine market meet a small crisis that new wine maker are brilliantly starting to deal with.


Yields are now constrained by law and many top producers have joined forces under the VDP (the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates), to focus their efforts on the best varieties, vineyard sites and practices.


Mosel essentially produces lively and fruity white wines mainly made of Riesling.
